Environmental Assessment – Joseph Y. Resnick Airport

KARC Planning Consultants partnered with Passero Associates to identify and delineate the wetlands located within the Resnick Airport runway easement area.  In addition, KARC coordinated the receipt of an Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) wetland Jurisdictional Determination (JD).

Upon verification of the site plan with wetlands, KARC prepared a JD request submission to the ACOE. The report included survey as well as information about the site owner and applicant; location; proposed project; current and historic uses of the subject areas; soils, vegetation, and aquatic resources; a discussion regarding jurisdictional status; delineation forms from each wetland area; photographs; and additional supporting information.

The project also included a review of protected species and habitats in the runway easement vicinity and an investigation of their potential presence on the site.

The protected species and critical habitat evaluation was performed to determine potential impact of the proposed action upon federal and state endangered, threatened, and rare species which may inhabit or utilize this site. A summary of potential significant adverse ecological impacts of total obstruction removal within the existing easement was included in the summary report.  These investigations were proposed for the removal of flight obstructions within FAA regulated areas, both on and off the airport parcel.
