KARC, LRC and Birdsall Engineering assisted Dutchess County with the design, permitting and construction management of the Quite Cove waterfront and shoreline improvements. The project involved aspects of Civil, Structural, Marine Surveying (bathymetric survey) and Marine Engineering as well as SEQRA compliance.
The design included renovation and replacement of the existing bulkhead and implementation of shoreline stabilization measures along the remainder of the riverfront. Stabilization measures included vertical bulkheads, sloped ecologically enhanced shoreline habitat enhancement features. This project included work within and directly adjacent to the tidal portion of the Hudson River.
The team worked with the various permitting agencies including the US Army Corps of Engineers, New York State Department of State, New York Department of Environmental Conservation and the New York Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation in preparing a project which met budget and schedule that was established by the grant provided by the New York State DEC Estuary Program.
Upon approval of the design drawings by the various permitting agencies, the team advised the County on all matters regarding bidding of the project, project award and the construction of the project.
