KARC Planning Consultants managed the team of consultants for two thoughtfully designed residential infill developments on North Clinton and Cannon Street in the City of Poughkeepsie. The projects consist of 4-family residential buildings offering a mix of 2- and 3-bedroom units, designed to fit within the scale of their surrounding neighborhoods. Despite compact lot sizes and existing site constraints, KARC successfully secured area variances through the City of Poughkeepsie Zoning Board of Appeals, allowing the developments to move forward as planned.
KARC worked collaboratively with the Planning Board, the City’s Architectural Consultant, and the full project team to ensure that the building designs were compatible with the scale, character, and architectural context of the surrounding neighborhood. The Planning Board commended the projects as strong examples of contextual infill development and for contributing to the City’s goals for providing “missing middle” housing.
KARC was responsible for managing all project consultants, preparing and submitting SEQRA documentation, performing comprehensive zoning analysis, and coordinating with City agencies throughout the approval process. Following an efficient 3-month review and approval process, the projects received site plan approval from the City of Poughkeepsie Planning Board on July 22, 2025, successfully advancing the developments toward construction.
